Hannah, one of the quiet women in the bible. We only get a glimpse into her world, but it has a powerful lesson for me personally.
In 1 Samuel we meet Hannah in the first chapter, we learn of her torments and her pleas to Jehovah, we learn the secret to her breaking through a deep depression in verse 18, we see Jehovah bless her for her faith and the in chapter 2 we hear her prayer of thanks to Jehovah in vs 1-10. In verse 21 of chapter 2 we learn something outstanding about out father Jehovah.
Waiting on Jehovah can be painful when our heart is longing for something it can not or does not have but what helped Hannah to move past her emotions and be content again? while she waited for Jehovah to handle things in his time?
” 1 Samuel 1: 17-18 says “ Then E′li answered and said: “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.” 18 To this she said: “Let your maidservant find favor in your eyes.” And the woman proceeded to go on her way and to eat, and her face became self-concerned no more.”
Do you see it, she truly gave her anxieties to Jehovah and became self concerned no more. She had complete faith in Jehovah and no more did she worry about her own unfulfilled wants. She fully shifted her inner focus on finding favor in Jehovah’s eyes.
In 1 Samuel 2:21 It amazes me how good Jehovah is to all of us, when he offers a blessing he always comes through beyond our hearts desires. Hannah prayed for just one child and was willing to give him to Jehovah’s full-time service as long as she had just that one son. Jehovah filled her heart with 5 more children she got to raise completely, 3 more sons and 2 daughters.
The lesson we learn from Hannah as Women is very beautiful. We need to fully trust Jehovah and wait with a heart that is not-self concerned. Jehovah will take care of us all, now and in the future. That is a promise. We must learn to obediently wait on Jehovah and seek his favor. We can use our time to help others and be happy now.
